THINGS PARENTS SHOULD BRING

  • Food for lunch
  • Diapers or pull ups
  • One of two changes of clothing
  • CLOTHING

    Children must have a clean change of clothers, including underwear available at all ties. Please provide confortable paly clothing that allows for freedom of movement and is appropriate to the weather. All garments must have child's name on it to prevent loss. Tennis shoes are recommended. Open toe shoes or hard heeled boots are not permitted at the center as it can cause possible toe injury or falling. Sandals and slippers are not allowed as it can be unsafe to the children.


    MEDICATION

    The center is not allowed to give medication of any kind without the written authorization from the doctor. If you rhcild is well enough to be at the center but needs medication, you must complete a medicatino form with the child's medication in it's original container, clearly labled with the child's name, drug, dosage and instructions. If necessary, parents may come to the center to administer non prescription medicatino to their child.


    HEALTH CHECK

    If your child shows signs of illness, keep him/her home so that it will not be necessary to return to school for you child. Children showing any of the following conditions should be kept at home:

  • A child who is physically injured by other than accident means.
  • A child who is sexually abused and exploited.
  • A child who is subjected to unjustified punishment.
  • A child who is neglected by an adult, a parent, child care provider, guardian or relative who fails to provide shelter, clothing, medical care, adequate food and supervision.
  • Reporting child abuse should be done when a person either knows, suspects, or has seen the child being abused physically or verbally. Under the mandatory child abuse law, California Penal Code Section 11161.5, the staff at Wonder World is required to report suspected child abuse cases.


    MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

    In the event of an accident or medical emergency, the center will call the parents and the physician of the child. If the center fails or experiences difficulties in contacting the parents or the child's physician and emergency treatment is extremely necessary, the center will call 911 and the child will be taken to the nearest hospital. Parent's authorization is necessary for us to contact the child's physician or to proceed to any medical procedures and is part of the medical contract agreement. For minor injuries such as scratch, scrape and bump, we will log it in the injury log book and treat the incident. Parents are responsible for any ambulance and hospital bills.


    BITING POLICY

    Biting occurs as a result of the child's inability to express his/her feelings and also inability to communicate with his/her peers. A child may become frustrated by a new environment, new acquaintances or overwhelmed by many other children around him/her and may tend to bite as a result. If biting does occur, the following procedures will be taken. The child being bit will be comforted and the bite area will be cleaned with soap and water to prevent infection. The parents will be notified and the incident will be logged in the injury book. The biting child will be closely supervised and redirected to appropriate activities. The parents will be notified and discuss with them ways to control and minimize this behavior. The identity of the child will not be revealed. If these actions seem difficult to curb, it may be necessary to remove the child from the program either permanently or for a short period of time.


    TOILET TRAINING

    Children ages 2 to 3 years old are accepted without being potty trained. We will work on potty-training with your child. We ask parents to provide diapers or training underwear. We will accompany your child to the restroom every hour. If potty accidents do occur, we will make every effort to accommodate this transition period.
